A "brain dump" in a planner is a technique or section where you can jot down all your thoughts, ideas, tasks, or any information that's cluttering your mind. It's a way to clear mental clutter and get everything out of your head and onto paper (or digital note), allowing you to organize and prioritize more effectively. Here's how it works:
- Set Aside Time: Choose a specific time to do your brain dump. It could be at the beginning or end of the day or whenever you feel overwhelmed by your thoughts.
- Empty Your Mind: Start writing down everything that comes to mind, whether it's to-do items, project ideas, worries, or random thoughts. Don't worry about organizing them at this stage; the goal is to get everything out.
- No Filtering: Avoid judging or prioritizing the items as you write. You're not deciding what's important or not right now; you're simply capturing everything.
- Categorize and Prioritize: Once you've finished your brain dump, review the list and categorize items into different sections like tasks, projects, personal, work, etc. Then, prioritize the most important tasks or ideas.
- Transfer to Planning Hub: Take the organized and prioritized items and add them to your planner or to-do list for the day, week, or month. This ensures that you have a structured plan to work from.
